19th International Shotokan Development Championships, Namibia, 2014

S@Test2The annual Development Karate Championships has been enormously successful in the past and is growing in stature every year. This year promises to be as unforgettable as we travel to the picturesque Namibia. All you will need to do on this once in a lifetime experience is to take in the beautiful sights and relax. You won’t be disappointed. Walvisbaai and Swakopmund will provide the perfect background for this year’s: 19th International Shotokan Development Karate Championship.

TEAM TRAINING
An extremely tough team training program is followed over the next 6 weeks! Top Academy instructors supported by a team of junior instructors will present the classes ensuring individual development in a team environment.

Team Training will take place at the Lions Club (Umgazi Road, Menlopark) on the following days:

  3. 16 Aug 2014 from 10h00-12h00
  4. 23 Aug 2014 from 10h00-12h00
  5. 06 Sep 2014 Team Training and Bootcamp at RMFJ Adventure Camp
  6. 13 Sep 2014 from 10h00-12h00

BOOTCAMP
A weekend at RMFJ Adventure Camp of tough training and motivation to encourage the team to understand the importance of representing our country. Friendships are created and clarified.

DEVELOPMENT COLOURS PRESENTATION
A grandeurs occasion in which each team member is awarded with official Academy National Development Colours.

TRAVELLING BY LUXURY COACH
Travelling together in luxury coaches gives everyone the chance to see how the landscape changes from Bosveld to Kalahari to desert. It also gives the team a chance to build team spirit and time to get to know one another a little better. We will travel by luxury coach from Pretoria to Swakopmund for the first leg of our trip. And then it’s off to Walvisbaai for the Championship after which it is back home to lovely South Africa.

CHALETS IN SWAKOPMUND
Close to the beach and other sights these very popular chalets offer all we need in luxury and features. We all need a good night’s rest before the big day.

INTERNATIONAL SHOTOKAN DEVELOPMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS
This traditional contest is competed within age and grade divisions. The non-contact rules ensure the safety of competitors in a friendly event.

SHOTO CUP
The popular team contest will be the highlight, as senior teams from South Africa and Namibia compete for gold.

FINAL PRIZE GIVING DINNER
Although medals are presented to the winners of divisions directly after each event is concluded, special awards will be presented at a formal dinner. A lovely three course meal is served and new friendships are celebrated before competitors start the journey back to their cities.
